If you stroll through the city center of Monnickendam on a Saturday afternoon, an ancient bell ringing echoes between the various monumental buildings. Every Saturday, the carillon plays the oldest playable carillon in the Netherlands. Monnickendam has a protected cityscape. It is such a typical antique Dutch town with small alleys, fish smokehouses in the harbor and Klippers en Tjalken on the quay.

consists of extensive meadows with small villages and picturesque farms. This makes the area a beautiful setting for a cycling or walking tour. Broek in Waterland is recommended. The protected village scene full of wooden Broeker houses is unique in the Netherlands. Since the village is home to many artists, there are also many galleries to be found. Within fifteen minutes you are in the city center of Amsterdam. There is an excellent bus connection from the marina!
